Microsoft VS EU

After a first round which lasted 14 years, it seems that we have a second one.
The first case trial between Microsoft and EU lasted 14 years ( 1993 – november 22, 2007). In the first round, the Microsoft company was accused of unfair competition and abuse of dominant position, promoting Windows Media Player in the operating system Windows.

The European Court acknowledged EU’s right and Microsoft paid in 2004 record fines – 497 millions euro and in 2006 – 280 millions euro. The case was solved by eliminating the Windows Media Player from the operating system. Thus, it appeared the “Windows Xp N” operating system.
After 2 months from the final ending of the conflict, Opera brought Microsoft to court for the same reasons, especially for promoting Internet Exporer in the operating system. In my opinion, Opera is too late because Microsoft brought Internet Explorer in Windows 10 years before.Though, allowing for the precedent solution, we can expect for another record fines.
Do not worry! We may assist on the third round. The biggest producer of software of the world has already announced that it will bring in an antivirus program in the next edition of the Windows operating system, Seven.
In my opinion, Microsoft did not learn its lesson or it has money to pay the fines. We will see if another big producer of antivirus brings Microsoft again to court.
