Damaged Cables Being Fixed

Repairs are under way for two undersea cables damaged Friday that cut Internet and phone services between Europe, the Middle East and Asia, reports BBC News.

The cables, between southern Italy and Egypt, were believed to have been cut by a ship’s anchor, according to Financial Times.

According to ArabianBusiness.com, 82 percent of service to India was disrupted, 73 percent to Qatar, 68 percent to the United Arab Emirates and 50 percent of service to Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt. The impact could be felt worldwide.
